In Exile
Most of the leaders as well as the members of the organization who could escape from Tibet ,wanted very much to continue their activities of opposition to the Chinese rule in Tibet.Their strong desire was to fight and die for Tibetan freedom rather than seek to make a comfortable life in exile.Thus the guerilla outfit in Mustang ,Nepal was formed consisting mainly of the remnants of the Chushi Gangdrug organization .Also ,When the first Tibetan division called Establishment No-22 was raised under the Indian army ,many veteran leaders and members of the Chushi Gangdrug formed its nucleus.Many such persons also served in the Indo -Tibetan Border Police.
In the Tibetan refugee society in general,gradually the Chushi Gangdrug transformed itself intio a civilian body and ultimately came to be recognised as the sole organization representing the Dhoto Chokha or Provice.They took their rightful place in the Gyalyong Tsogchen or the National Assembly and contributed their mite in the struggle and reconstruction of the Diaspora.
